Centralized identity and access management improves Framery's security and user experience

Comprehensive security and a seamless user experience come together in the daily operations of Framery, known for its soundproof workspaces and phone booths. This is thanks to Okta's modern identity and access management, which the company implemented with the support of IT partner Advania.

Comprehensive security and a seamless user experience come together in the daily operations of Framery, known for its soundproof workspaces and phone booths. This is thanks to Okta's modern identity and access management, which the company implemented with the support of IT partner Advania.

Founded in 2010, Framery is now the market leader in its field, with nearly 400 employees serving client companies in 98 countries. In addition to workspaces, Framery offers office technology solutions, such as a room reservation app and other smart solutions for managing workspaces.

Framery's products enable employees of its customers to work efficiently and improve well-being at work. Naturally, the company wants to ensure the same for its own employees. Modern identity and access management (IAM) plays a significant role in this.

Okta manages access and security

Framery has been adopting the Zero Trust model with the support of Advania for years: devices are managed centrally, and Okta is used for identity and access management. Advania has assisted Framery with system implementations, integrations with other systems, maintenance, and development.

"Framery has employees in 15 different countries. Okta ensures that access management and security are consistent regardless of where the user is in the world. Often, security is perceived as something that complicates users' daily lives, but Okta has changed this perception," says Framery's Support and Digital Workplace Manager Arttu Hakanen.

Hakanen's team is responsible for maintaining basic IT infrastructure and systems, device management, and user support. Okta significantly simplifies access and security management.

"With Okta, we have been able to automate many processes, making users' daily lives easier. Logging into different systems is secure and smooth without passwords," Hakanen notes.

Taking Zero Trust to the next level

In the spring of 2024, Framery aimed to enhance its ability to respond to security threats. Thus, it decided to extend its Zero Trust approach by replacing its old security solution and implementing a Managed Detection and Response (MDR) service with the support of Advania. This service is designed for detecting and responding to security threats.

"During the implementation, the MDR solution was integrated with Okta, which allowed the inclusion of the Zero Trust risk scoring for both users and devices as part of the parameters checked before granting access," says Peter Giesa from Advania.

"The deployment of the MDR application for macOS, Windows, iOS, and Android devices is managed centrally. This ensures the protection of new devices as soon as they are put into use," Giesa adds.

A reliable IT partner contributes to a company's success

Arttu Hakanen from Framery appreciates the customer-centric approach of an IT partner and values the ease of access to expert assistance.

"Customer-centric approach means, for example, that we consistently receive solution proposals tailored to our specific needs. We are not pushed solutions that we do not need.”

"Advania's experts integrate seamlessly with our IT team. We regularly collaborate on future development steps, ensuring smooth cooperation and prompt assistance. Consequently, I can affirm that Advania plays a crucial role in maintaining Framery's business continuity and success," Hakanen states.
